Ningún bróker cumple todos los filtros. Prueba a quitar uno: los filtros de regulador y plataforma juntos son el par que más a menudo no deja nada.
Las que tratan de esta tabla, y las que tratan del sector que cubre.
Nobody holds a definitive count, because there is no single register to count from - a firm licensed in three jurisdictions appears three times, and offshore registrations are not centrally published at all. Credible estimates put the number of retail-facing brokers globally somewhere in the low thousands. What matters more than the total is how many are regulated somewhere you could actually complain to, which is a far smaller number.
Filter down to what actually applies to you - your regulator, your platform, what you can deposit - then sort by whatever you care about most. The score is a starting point, not an answer: two brokers a point apart are not meaningfully different, while two with the same score can suit completely different people.
Some brokers pay us a commission when a reader opens an account through our link. It costs you nothing extra, and it has no bearing on the rating - several brokers listed here have no commercial relationship with us at all.
Each broker's own published material in the first instance, recorded with the date it was compiled. We show every broker their review and correct it on evidence.
No. It means the broker scored well on regulation, cost, platform, markets, support and education. Whether it suits you depends on what you trade, how much you trade, and where you live.
Either we do not yet hold enough verified detail to publish, or it has withdrawn from the market. If you think something is missing, tell us and we will look at it.
That a named authority has licensed the firm, sets rules it must follow, and can fine or shut it down. In practice the rules that matter to you are three: your money held in a segregated account away from the firm's own, a cap on how much leverage you can be sold, and somewhere independent to complain. A licence is not a guarantee the firm is good - it is a guarantee somebody is watching.
It is the single biggest difference between two brokers that otherwise look identical. An FCA, ASIC or CySEC licence brings segregated money, negative balance protection and a complaints body. A Seychelles, Vanuatu or Saint Vincent registration typically brings none of those, which is why the same brand often offers far higher leverage through its offshore entity - the protections that would prevent it are not there.
The spread is the gap between the buy and sell price, and it is how most brokers get paid: you start every trade fractionally down. A commission account narrows that gap and charges a separate fee per lot instead. Neither is automatically cheaper - the comparison is the spread plus the commission together, which is why a headline of 0.0 pips means nothing on its own.
That $1,000 of your money controls $500,000 of currency. It multiplies the gain and the loss identically, so it is a measure of how fast an account can be emptied as much as anything else. Regulators in the UK, EU and Australia cap retail leverage at 1:30 for exactly that reason, and the four-figure numbers in this table are almost always offered by an offshore entity of the same brand.
A guarantee that a losing trade cannot take you below zero and leave you owing the broker money. In a fast market a position can gap straight through your stop, and without this protection the debt is legally yours. It is mandatory under UK, EU and Australian rules and frequently absent offshore, so it is worth checking before the leverage figure rather than after.
A statutory fund that pays you back, up to a limit, if the broker fails owing you money. The UK's FSCS covers £85,000 and the EU's ICF covers €20,000. Most offshore jurisdictions have nothing equivalent, so if the firm collapses you are an unsecured creditor. We record it for every broker, and we say so plainly when the answer is none.
A card or e-wallet withdrawal is usually processed within one to three working days, with the card network adding a few more. Bank transfers run longer. Delay is not automatically a warning sign - completing identity checks is a legal obligation, not obstruction - but a withdrawal that keeps meeting new conditions after those checks are done is the complaint we see most often.
In most countries, yes, through a locally licensed firm. Some restrict or ban retail CFDs outright, and others allow the trade but not the marketing of it. Because a broker will often accept clients from countries it is not licensed to serve, the check worth doing is whether it holds a licence in yours, not whether the signup form lets you through.
